SHIRIKI AFRIKA

Soil to Soul

Our Journey

Through the Shiriki Homestead, we are establishing a model for holistic land and water stewardship grounded in permaculture principles. By offering hands-on workshops, community outreach, eco-friendly farming demonstrations, and partnerships with local health centers, we aim to educate and empower student families—who in turn become model homesteads in their communities.

" By nurturing both soil and souls, we strive to grow a future where local food systems thrive, forests flourish, and communities are resilient and self-reliant. "

Our Roots

At SHIRIKI AFRIKA, we believe that the health of the soil, soul, body, and family is the foundation of community transformation and sustainable development.

Like the mighty Acacia tree that stands as a symbol of fortitude and renewal in African landscapes, we are dedicated to cultivating healthier communities through regenerative agriculture, reforestation, and nutrition education.

Our Founder's Journey

Olivia Hansen-Gibbs, Founder of Shiriki Afrika

"Through much prayer, research, consideration, and local consultation, Shiriki Afrika was born."

A Vision of Hope and Community

Olivia Hansen-Gibbs' connection to the Kumi/Atutur community began in 2016 when she first visited Uganda. What started as a journey to understand the challenges faced by local communities transformed into a deep-rooted commitment to fostering sustainable development and community empowerment.

Her experiences in Uganda revealed both the immense challenges and the incredible potential within these communities. The name "SHIRIKI" itself embodies this vision - it means "to share" or "to unite" in Swahili, reflecting our commitment to collaborative community transformation.

Share Unite Transform Empower

Today, Shiriki Afrika stands as a testament to the power of community-driven change, focusing on regenerative agriculture, sustainable development, and the nurturing of local leadership.
